What You’ll Need

• Drawer slides and suitable countersunk screws
• Measuring tape and pencil
• Drill and screwdriver
• Level or straight edge
• Supports or spacers

How to Install Drawer Slides

1. Measure the height

Measure the distance from the bottom of the cabinet to the bottom of the drawer. This will determine the height of the drawer slide placement.

2. Mark the placement

Using a pencil, mark the height of the drawer slide placement on both sides of the cabinet.

3. Align the Slide

Align the drawer slide with the pencil marks and use a level to ensure it is straight.

4. Attach the Slide

Secure the slide to the cabinet using countersunk screws, making sure the screws are flush with the slide.

5. Repeat the Process

Repeat steps 3-4 for the second slide on the opposite side of the cabinet.

6. Place the Drawer

Place the drawer onto the installed slides and slide it in and out to ensure it moves smoothly. Open and close it several times and make any necessary adjustments before tightening all fixings.

For locking slides, check that the mechanism engages correctly in both the open and closed positions.

• Mounting the slides at different heights
• Allowing them to angle inward or outward
• Using screws that protrude into the mechanism
• Leaving insufficient side clearance
• Tightening everything before testing
